In recent years counterexamples to the “no hair” conjecture were established in various theories with non-abelian fields, including Einstein-Yang-Mills, Einstein-Yang-Mills-Higgs and Einstein-Skyrme theory. Possessing non-trivial matter fields outside their regular event horizont, these non abelian black hole solutions are no more completely determined by their global charges. Besides static spherically symmetric black hole solutions with non-abelian hair, there are static blach hole solutions with only axial symmetry and even static black hole solutions with only discrete crystal symmetries.
