Chirp of high intensity femtosecond laser pulses reflected from steep dense plasmas — •R. Kingham, W. Theobald, P. Gibbon, and R. Sauerbrey — Institut für Optik und Quantenelektronik der Universität Jena, Max-Wien-Platz 1, 07743 Jena
The phase modulation of short (50 - 100 fs) intense (I=1018W/cm2) laser pulses due to reflection in a short scale-length dense plasma is being investigated using a Lorentz-boosted 1d3V particle-in-cell (PIC) code, for various angles of incidence. The movement of the critical surface and the equivalent ion density are tracked with time and the amplitude and phase of the reflected field are retrieved. Time resolved spectrograms are calculated from the reflected field obtained with the PIC-code and compared to those calculated assuming the model of a moving mirror
