Spectroscopy on (C2H4)n in He droplets — •M. Kunze, J. Oomens, J. Reuss, F. Harren, and D. H. Parker — Dept. of Molecular and Laser Physics, University of Nijmegen, The Netherlands
(C2H4)n molecules are spectroscopically investigated by a cw line tuneable CO2-laser in an inert and ultracold environment, the He droplets. The droplets are produced in a supersonic beam expansion and then doped with the molecules of interest. After excitation, the molecules relax back to the ground state, thereby releasing the absorbed energy into the helium droplet. The resulting decrease in cluster size is detected as an energy depletion with a bolometer.
The experimental set-up and first results are presented.
