Generation of intense femtosecond laser pulses and their propagation through gases — •A Mysyrowicz — LOA-ENSTA, Ecole Polytechnique, F-91127 Palaiseau, France

The first part of the talk will give a review of recent developments of intense short-pulse lasers. The second part is devoted to the presentation of experimental studies of the propagation of such intense laser pulses through atmosphere. Plasma formation and self-channeling will be discussed.
