Quantum games and quantum strategies — •Jens Eisert1, Martin Wilkens1, and Maciej Lewenstein2 — 1Institut für Physik, Universität Potsdam, 14469 Potsdam, Germany — 2Institut für theoretische Physik, Universität Hannover, 30167 Hannover, Germany
Some scenarios in quantum information theory can be conceived as competitive situations where two or more parties with opposed or at best mixed motives interact. Situations of this type are characteristic for problems of game theory which deals with the mathematical analysis of conflicts. We investigate the connection between quantum information theory and game theory and discuss an illustrative example in detail.
