Optical data transmission for the ATLAS pixel detector — •Adrian Niculae, Joachim Hausmann, Martin Holder, and Michal Ziolkowski — Universit"at Gesamthochschule Siegen, Fachbereich 7 - Physik, Adolf-Reichwein-Stra"se 3, D-57068 Siegen
Data transmission in the 1.4 ·108 element pixel detector will be made using VCSEL-lasers at 850 nm and PIN-diode receivers. An standard speed is 40 Mbit/s for each of about 5000 links. Details of the data encoding and decoding, operational experience and possible extension to higher clock frequencies are presented.
