Fractal transport coefficients in deterministic dynamical systems — •R. Klages — Center for Nonlinear Phenomena and Complex Systems, Université Libre de Bruxelles
We study deterministic transport in two-dimensional generalized multibaker maps. Multibakers share fundamental properties which are important for transport in physically realistic dynamical systems. We introduce two new types of models which exhibit non-trivial parameter dependences and have strong time-reversible properties. Our first map mimics a simple diffusion-reaction process. It is area-preserving, and its diffusion coefficient and reaction rate are both fractal functions in a parameter. Our second model is dissipative and generates average currents parallel to the bias, opposite to the bias, or fractal in the bias as a parameter. We find that the direction of the current is characterized by the value of the average dissipation rate of the system.
