The occurence of stochastic motion in classical mechanics is usually explained with the resonance overlapp model (1). In this contribution the fine structure of nonlinear resonances was investigated numerically and will be compared to analytical expressions derived from several approximation methods. The interaction of nonlinear resonances is also examined.
