Superradiance in magnetoplasmas — •T. Brandes1, J. Inoue2, and A. Shimizu2 — 11. Inst. f. Theor. Physik, Universität Hamburg — 2Institute of Physics, University of Tokyo, Japan
We present theoretical results for superradiance, i.e. the collective coherent decay of a radiating system, in the shorttime-dynamics of a 2d magnetoplasma. The optically active region of a semiconductor 2DEG under a strong magnetic field can become superradiant after a short initial light pulse. The corresponding emission of light as a function of time has the form of a very short and intense peak. In addition, optical or electronical pumping of electrons and holes at a rate T leads to a novel kind of oscillations with frequency ∼ √T in the strong magnetic field limit [1]. We solve the semiconductor Maxwell-Bloch equations in the Hartree-Fock approximation. If more Landau bands are occupied, the dynamics starts to become chaotic, depending on the pump parameter T.
