Periodic Density Modulations for Composite Fermions: Evidence of Flux Attachment — •Smet Jurgen — Max-Planck-Institut für Festkörperforschung, Heisenbergstraße 1, D-70569 Stuttgart
Within the composite fermion model it is anticipated that a periodic
modulation of the particle density in a two-dimensional electron system
at half filled Landau level filling factor produces a periodic fictitious
magnetic field by virtue of the flux attachment. The dc-transport properties
in such modulated systems indeed confirm that composite fermions behave
largely equivalent to electrons moving in a periodic magnetic field.
