Noise induced transport in 2D systems - the numerical study — •Marcin Kostur — Institut fur Physik, Humboldt Universitat zu Berlin, Invalidenstr. 110, 10115 Berlin
The noise induced transport has been widely investigated in literature in 1D case. However the exploring of higher dimensions was limited by difficulties in obtaining the analytical solution. On the other hand the numerical simulations of stochastic dynamical equations requires lots of computational effort to obtain precise result. Here the alternative approach will be presented - the numerical study of Fokker-Planck equation.
The tool of this investigations is the finite element method, which is being successfully applied in many industrial problems and now can also serve as a excellent way for numerical exploring of transport in 2D systems. The considered cases are:
- The transport transversal to a constant driving force.
- The transport transversal to a temperature gradient.
