We present results of x-ray and ultraviolet photoemission spectroscopy (XPS and UPS) probing the occupied electronic structure of single crystalline RE-Ni2B2C. These data represent an extension of previous work carried out on polycrystalline samples. Considering the surface sensitivity of photoemission, the exploration of the different strategies available for the preparation of surfaces yielding instrinsic information regarding the electronic structure of these systems is of particular interest. Photoemission data from both the core and valence levels will be presented, as well as selected Auger spectra. The valence band photoemission data will be compared with the results of LDA band structure calculations. This work is supported by the DFG as part of SFB 463.
