There are a number of ultra sensitive devices which are based on the Coulomb blockade in both superconducting and normal tunnel junctions. Two different devices will be reviewed. i) The radio frequency Single Electron Transistor (RF-SET) which is an extremely sensitive electrometer and the RF version of it is also very fast. ii) Capacitively Coupled arrays of small Josephson junctions, which act as a current mirror and can be used to compare extremely small currents.
