Molecular Desorption Induced by Photons on NEG St 707 at Room Temperature — •frederic Le Pimpec — Geneva Schweiz
A photodesorption study was made of a NEG St 707 (SAES Getters TM) at room temperature after conditioning and saturation by CO on a dedicated beamline on the EPA ring at CERN. Measurements were performed using a synchrotron radiation spectrum of 45.3 eV critical energy, with an average photon intensity of 3.7 1016 photons.s-1. The radiation was impinging the NEG surface at normal incidence. The comparison of the desorption yield η (molecules/photon) of an activated NEG and a fully CO saturated NEG is lower than that of 300 C baked stainless steel.
