Studies of Negative Ions from C2Cl4 by Dissociative Electron Attachment — •Herwig Drexel, Verena Grill, and Tilmann Märk — UNI Innsbruck Institut fuer Ionenphysik Technikerstr. 25 6020 Innsbruck,Austria

Previous studies on the dissociative electron attachment of C2Cl4 have reported two shapes of the cross section for the production of Cl. [1] reported a sharp resonance in the production of the C2Cl4 parent ion at about zero eV and a rather broad resonance for the production of Cl. [2] studied electron attachment of C2Cl4 using the retarding potential difference technique. They reported a double peak structure for the production of Cl from C2Cl4. Consequently the exact profile of the Cl resonance still remains uncertain. First results in our laboratory were carried out with an energy resolution of about 75 meV. The shape and position of the resonances of most fragment ions and the parent ion agrees nicely with the results reported by [1]. The shape of the Cl resonance shows a distinct peak at about zero electron energy with an underlying broad structure at the high-energy side. Preliminary results with a higher resolution of the electron energy seem to confirm the investigation of [2] who reported a double peak structure. Work supported by FWF, Wien, Austria [1] E.
