Study of the angular distributions of xenon NOO Auger electrons: determination of alignment- and intrinsic decay parameters — •Langer Burkhard1, Snell György2, Kukk Edwin2, and Berrah Nora2 — 1Max-Born-Institut für nichtlineare Optik und Kurzzeitspektroskopie, 12489 Berlin — 2Western Michigan University, Kalamazoo, MI 49008, USA
In the framework of the two-step model of Auger decay the alignment of the xenon 4d−1 primary hole states has been derived as a function
of photon energy. This quantity was obtained from angular distribution measurements of the N4,5O2,3O2,3 Auger lines after ionization of free Xe atoms by monochromatized synchrotron radiation of 80-250 eV photon energy. The data show a minimum of the alignment parameter in the Cooper
minimum of the 4d photoionization cross section, which proves the vanishing of the outgoing є f electron wave. These alignment parameters are compared to recent semi-empirical predictions and calculations [1]. Furthermore, the intrinsic parameters for all lines in this Auger group were determined and are compared to previous experiments and
calculations.
