The powerfull method of Accelerator Mass Spectrometry has been applied to measure free of molecular interference low concentrations of hydrogen isotopes (1H,2H,3H) deposited in graphite protection tiles from the vessel walls of JET Joint Undertaking. Special interest was paid to measurements of tritium content. To obtain accurate analysing conditions the ultra clean ion injector of the accelerator laboratory of LMU and TUM, with external Cs gun and magnetic analysis of the sputter beam in conjunction with the 15 MV MP-tandem accelerator in Munich was used. A computer controlled and UHV compatible x-y scanning unit moves the target holder in front of the sputter beam. The target holder containes up to 16 samples and is moved by two stepper motors. In this way the target can be scanned. Data are recorded at equal space intervals. The detector consists of five 400 µm thick Si pin anodes. Data are recorded in List Mode. Using calibration procedures and repeating a periodic scanning over the sample the data processing delivered depth profiling and 3 dimentional imaging of the tritium content. The sensitivity of the facility goes down to 108 atoms of 3H per cm3 of graphite.
