Dynamical Properties of weakly degenerate strongly coupled plasmas — •V.A. Golubnichiy, M. Bonitz, and D. Kremp — Universität Rostock, Fachbereich Physik, 18051 Rostock
We present quasi-classical molecular dynamics results for a dense one-component plasma. We use an effective quantum pair potential to describe quantum effects in a weakly degenerate plasma. The strength of this approach is that arbitrary strong coupling effects can be included. For an efficient numerical modelling, we developed a scheme where the interaction is devided into a long-range and a short-range part. The long-range part is computed using the Ewald procedure and a 3D lookup table which allows for a fast and accurate simulation. We present results for thermodynamic quantities, the pair distribution function, and dynamic properties, including the density-density autocorrelation function and the dynamic structure factor. The role of quantum effects on the dielectric properties and the plasmon dispersion is investigated [1]. The results are compared to simulations with a classical Coulomb potential and with weak-coupling (RPA/Vlasov) predictions.
