We shall discuss here some theoretical aspects of moving dark solitons in Bose-Einstein condensates. In particular, we will focus our discussion on the solitons recently observed in Hannover created by the method of phase imprint. We will analyze in detail the dynamics of the soliton inside the trap and the non trivial dynamical evolution after the condensate is released from the trap and undergoes free expansion. Other peculiar aspects of the soliton dynamics like collision of solitons, dissipation effects and creation of standing waves will also be discussed.
