The Generation and Amplification of Shaped Ultrafast Laser Pulses, Tunable between 500 to 700 nm — •Elmar Schreiber, Howe Siang Tan, and Warren Warren — Center for Ultrafast Laser Applications, Princeton University, NJ 08544, USA

The generation of 10 µJ ultrafast shaped pulses tunable between 500 and 700nm is demonstrated. This is achieved with acousto-optical modulation (AOM) pulse shaping technique using a white light continuum followed by amplification via noncollinear optical parametric amplification (NOPA, [1]). In our setup, the wide wavelength tunability of the shaped pulse is provided by a white light continuum, which is generated by a 100fs pulse at 800nm in a 3-mm sapphire crystal. The AOM based pulse shaper can be tuned to shape the spectral range of choice from the white light continuum. This provides the seed pulse, that as in [1] is amplified to approximately 10µJ via type I BBO optical parametric amplification by a 100µJ pump pulse at 400nm with a noncollinear geometry. To perform pump&probe/control spectroscopy a second NOPA without AOM is added to probe e.g. laser-induced wave packets in molecules.
