Recently, the influence of the center-of-mass motion on the process of the stimulated emission of a single atom has lead to the development of the mazer (microwave amplification via z-motion-induced emission of radiation) device [M.O. Scully, G.M. Meyer, and H. Walther, Phys. Rev. Lett. 76, 4144 (1996)]. In the present paper we study multi-atom effects in the reflection and transmission from a cavity field.
