Solar flare observations from SOHO, MICA and YOHKOH in relation with a coronal shock wave — •Guillermo Stenborg, Davina Innes, and Rainer Schwenn — Max-Planck-Institut für Aeronomie (MPAe), Max-Planck-Str. 2, 37191 Katlenburg-Lindau

A limb flare (strength M7.6) was observed on May 9, 1999. Simultaneously with a fast X-ray plasmoid ejection (YOHKOH), a circular emission front was seen in coronagraph images (MICA). The projected velocity was about 500 km/sec, consistent with the very high velocity Doppler shifts (equivalent to about 600 km/sec) determined from the Fe XX emission line (SUMER/SOHO). This unique set of observations suggests that a blast wave initiated by the flare was propagating through the overlying coronal arcade. We present the observational evidence related to this event.
