Modeling of BrO Slant Columns over Ny-Ålesund (79N) and Bremen (53N) — •Marco Bruns, Heinrich Bovensmann, Richard Müller, Andreas Richter, Folkard Wittrock, and John P. Burrows — Institute of Environmental Physics, P.O. Box 330440, D-28334 Bremen

Due to the strong diurnal variation of BrO it is necessary to model differential slant columns for BrO in order to interpret measured zenith sky data properly. In this study, the model package SLACO is applied to artic vortex and non-vortex scenarios as well as to mid latitude scenarios to test our current understanding of bromine chemistry by comparing model runs with mean BrO slant columns. To check the implemented bromine chemistry all calculations are compared to an extensive amount of measured data. The goal of this work is the modeling of DSCD’s for inside and outside Vortex scenarios in the polar latitudes and for an outside vortex scenario for mid latitudes with the same chemistry.
