Following R. Penrose and L. Diósi, we discuss a modification of Schrödinger’s equation by adding non–linear terms which would physically represent gravitational self–interaction of the wave–function. These terms could be neglected for most applications with one exception:

They render superpositions of certain macroscopic states unstable when taking into account gravitational radiation. Hence the modified Schrödinger equation could provide an interesting model for the measurement process.
