Pulse shape distributions of Segmented Clover detectors have been measured as a function of the impact position of γ-rays. Precise simulation calculations employing 3d FEM electrical field calculations and including subtle effects like the velocity dependence of the charge carriers on the crystal orientation quantitatively agreed with the measured data. Several analysis algorithms to extract the position information from the pulse shapes have been investigated. Position resolution of 4-12 mm (FWHM) and 1-40 mm (FWTM) were obtained. The simulations revealed that the large FWTM values are caused mainly by Compton scattering inside the crystal.
