The silicon vertex detector for ANKE at COSY-Jülich will comprise more than 10000 detector strips. As frontend chips a combination of VA32/TA (32 channels, 200 µ m pitch, 500 MIPS dynamic range) for spectator detection and VA2/TA chips (128 channels, 50 µ m pitch, 10 MIPS dynamic range) for forward tracking will be used. With the selftriggering capabilities of the chips it will be possible to have a trigger from the vertex detector. This option allows to extend the acceptance of the ANKE-spectrometer.
Deadtime of the ANKE readout system should stay below 100 µ s after introduction of the vertex detector. In order to meet this requirement new readout electronics is under development. At the moment the above mentioned frontendchips are being tested.
