Nonequilibrium dynamics of strangeness production in heavy ion collisions — •Stefan Scherer — Institut f"ur Theoretische Physik, Johann Wolfgang Goethe Universit"at, Frankfurt/Main
The excitation function of strangeness production in relativistic heavy ion collisions as measured by the strangeness to pion ratio is lower for A+A reactions as compared to extrapolation from N+N reactions at SPS energies. This has been interpreted as a sign for the transition to the QGP.
We will discuss the strangeness excitation function as seen in the light of different nonequilibrium models: the macroscopic three fluid hydrodynamical model, the UrQMD, a hadronic transport model including strings, and the qMD, a molecular dynamics of quarks.
