The nucleus 70Se has been studied using the
40Ca(40Ca,2α2p) reaction at the
beam energy of 185 MeV. γ rays were measured
using the EUROBALL III array. In
order to detect emitted charged particles the ISIS
Si-ball was used. The beam was provided by the XTU
tandem accelerator at the Laboratori Nazionali di
Legnaro. γ-γ-γ and
γ-γ-charged-particle
coincidences were used to identify γ transitions
in 70Se which is produced in one of the weakest
channels. All previously known levels in 70Se
were confirmed. In addition four new rotational bands
were observed. These bands are interpreted in terms of
cranked Strutinsky calculations with Woods-Saxon
average potential.
