Systematic investigation of 235,238U(n,f) and 237Np(n,f) — •F.-J. Hambsch1, F. Vivès1, and S. Oberstedt2 — 1EC-JRC-IRMM, Retieseweg, B-2440 Geel, Belgium — 2ILL, BP 156, F-38042 Grenoble Cedex 9, France
The reactions 235,238U(n,f) and 237Np(n,f) have been studied
in detail at IRMM up to 6 MeV incident neutron energy. Observed variations
in the mean TKE have been disentangled into mass yield changes and changes
in the mean TKE(A). Pairbreaking effects are visible for the uranium
isotopes. The peak to valley ratio of all the systems shows a similar
slope as a function of En. This slope can be interpreted as a measure
of the barrier transparency of the individual symmetric outer fission
barrier. The two-dimensional Y(A,TKE) has been described in terms of
fission modes. The behaviour of the different parameters from the fission
mode analysis as a function of En for the different compound nuclei
will be compared and discussed.
