Visual Impressions from Numerical Relativity — •Werner Benger1, Stefan Heusler2, and Frank Stanzl31Max-Planck-Institut für Gravitationsphysik, Konrad-Zuse Zentrum für Informationstechnik — 2Kunsthochschule für Medien, Köln — 3Musikhochschule Köln

Visualizations of recent simulations from numerical relativity are presented in a film, where the continuous progress in the numerical methods and visualization techniques are also exploited from an artistic point of view. We show examples from the topics of colliding black holes, orbiting and merging neutron stars and collapsing gravitational waves, all being visualizations of numerical simulations performed in 1999.
