Vector meson production at HERMES — •Katherina Negodaeva — DESY Zeuthen, Platanenallee 6, 15738 Zeuthen
Double spin asymmetries in ρ0,φ, ω and J/ψ vector meson production have been studied with the HERMES experiment at the HERA accelerator at DESY. The analysis was focused on the ρ0 meson, because of its superior statistics. In early 1998 the Threshold Cherenkov detector at HERMES was replaced by a RICH which allows to identify pions, kaons and protons over the entire momentum range of the experiment (2-20 GeV). Single pion, kaon and proton efficiencies and contaminations essential for the analysis involving the RICH, were determined using the decay of vector mesons to select certain hadrons. Consistent results for different event topologies were obtained and will be presented together with first results on vector meson production at HERMES using the RICH.
