High accelerating gradient superconducting cavities for TESLA — •Lutz Lilje — Notkestrasse 85, 22607 Hamburg

Electropolished single cell niobium cavities give very high accelerating gradients as compared to niobium cavities with standard BCP surface treatment. The results indicate that a high temperature heat treatment with titanification after electropolishing is not necessary. Tests on single cell cavities are compared with the performance of individual cells in 9-cell cavities of the TTF type after titanification.
