We investigate the dynamical interplay between currents and electromagnetic fields in a single–channel quantum wire in the presence of electron–electron interactions. We study the dispersion relation of the polariton which is due to the coupling of collective charge excitations in the quantum wire and electromagnetic fields. Further, we discuss the spatial shape of the local electric field in response to a given external field.
