Influence of surface acoustic waves on the electronic transport properties of a double quantum dot — •T. Vorrath and T. Brandes — I. Institut für Theoretische Physik, Jungiusstr. 9, 20355 Hamburg

We consider the transport of electrons through a system of two quantum dots in the presence of surface acoustic waves (SAW). Since in corresponding experiments [1] the quantum dots lay only about 100nm below the surface of the sample, an influence of the SAW can be expected. The inelastic current is calculated as a function of the difference of the ground state energies for an additional electron in the left and in the right dot. We find that the SAW causes oscillations of this inelastic current, similar to the case of bulk phonons [2]. This effect depends on the relative position between the crystal axes and the vector connecting the dots.
