Transport and charging in a double barrier quantum wire — •T. Kleimann1, M. Sassetti1, and B. Kramer21Dipartimento di Fisica, INFM, Via Dodecaneso 33, I-16146 Genova — 2I. Inst. Theor. Physik, Universität Hamburg, Jungiusstr. 9, D-20355 Hamburg

We investigate the combined effects of interaction, charging and impurities in a single channel quantum wire. A one dimensional quantum dot, formed by two impurity potentials in a quantum wire, subject to a general driving electric field is considered. We derive an effective action[1] in which current and charging terms are identified and investigated with respect to the symmetry of the system, strength and range of the electron–electron interaction [2]. Several limiting cases are discussed in the light of recent experiments [3,4].
