Transport through excited states in mesoscopic quantum dots — •Rafael Mendez and Gregor Hackenbroich — Fachbereich 7 Physik, GH Essen University, 45117
We study peak–height and transmission phase correlations for quantum dots in the Coulomb blockade regime. When the intrinsic width of the transmission peaks is of the order of the mean level spacing, transport takes place either by resonant tunneling or by tunneling through excited levels of the quantum dot. The excited levels may dominate the transport and lead to strong peak correlations if the quantum dot supports states that are strongly coupled to the external reservoirs.
