To investigate the texture induced plastic anisotropy of oxide dispersion strengthened (ODS) nickel-base alloys more quantitatively, materials with different textures and grain structures have been deformed in axisymmetric and plane strain compression at 1000C and a strain rate of about 10−4 s−1. The textures have been measured by neutron diffraction and analyzed with the component method. Based on these textures Taylor factors have been calculated for different deformation modes varying from compression to plane strain deformation. The linear dependence of the creep strength on the Taylor factor clearly shows that the plastic anisotropy observed is due to the texture and not to the anisotropy of the grain structure.
