Cluster treatment of the electrical conductivity of disordered and short-range ordered alloys — •Lucian D. Dulca1, John Banhart2, and Gerd Czycholl11Institut für Theoretische Physik, Universität Bremen, Kufsteiner Str. 2, 28359 Bremen — 2Fraunhofer-Institut für Fertigungstechnik und Materialforschung, Wiener Str. 12, 28359 Bremen

The electrical conductivity of finite, three-dimensional clusters

is calculated using a combination of density functional theory,

multiple scattering theory and the Kubo-Greenwood equation.

Isolated clusters and clusters embedded in a coherent potential

(CPA medium) are considered. Densities of states and electrical

resistivities are calculated for disordered and short-range

ordered alloy systems. Different cluster sizes and two cluster

types, namely spherical and rectangular clusters, are considered.
