Using radiative boundary conditions to describe adiabatically coupled reservoirs, we study the shot noise of a quantum wire with an impurity. To determine this nonequilibrium property of a Luttinger liquid, we employ the techniques of bosonization, Coulomb gas expansion and refermionization. In the strong backscattering limit we find the expected Poisson noise, corresponding to electron tunneling, whereas in the weak backscattering limit the noise strength becomes interaction dependent. This reveals the fractionally charged quasiparticles backscattered by the impurity.
