In the ionization of heavy ions the resonant excitation of a 3d electron leads to very highly excited states which can decay by multiple-autoionization processes. We studied these processes by observing resonance structures in multiple ionization cross sections for Ban+-ions with 1 ≤ n ≤ 13 in an energy range from about 600 to 1000 eV, depending on the ion charge state n. The measurements were carried out using an electron-ion crossed beams arrangement. Depending on the charge state n of the target ion up to sevenfold ionization was observed. The resonance strengths inferred from the measurements depend on n and the number of ejected electrons. A complete overview of measured cross sections for these processes will be given.
