Within a series of measurements (Si11+, Cl14+, Ti19+ and Ni25+) [1,2] the influence of external electromagnetic fields on dielectronic recombination (DR) has been investigated. With measurements on Ne7+ and O5+ ions this series has been extended to lower values of the nuclear charge number Z. A new aspect in the present experiment with O5+ ions was the variation of the ion energy. The magnetic fields in the bending dipole magnets have to be varied accordingly. Thus the electric fields which are responsible for field ionization of Rydberg states formed by DR can be varied in a controlled manner. In this way the influence of external fields on a bandwidth of states can be analyzed.
