Molecules are poor candidates for the laser cooling techniques commonly used with the atoms. In recent years, much progress has been made in producing and manipulating the ultra cold molecule formed through photoassociation in cold atomic sample [1]. We improved a technique which has allowed in 1998 the first observation of cold molecule formation [2].
State-selected caesium dimers were created in a dilute caesium atoms sample with free-bound stimulated Raman transitions, this technique allow us to formed a sample of controlled ro-vibrationnal states of the molecules. We recently succeed in trapping the triplet cold molecules in a magnetic trap.
