Knowledge of the cross sections of the individual channels for the simplest molecular ion-molecule collision system (H2+ - H2) is of considerable importance in the context of it’s fundamental aspect and the understanding of the astrophysical and laboratory plasmas. We have used a crossed beam set-up of H2+ ions in collision with a H2 target to measure cross sections of many individual processes resulting from ionisation and electron capture collisions, including fragmentation channels. Time of flight techniques were used to identify target products and a Si barrier detector was used to distinguish one or two fast protons formed in projectile break-up collisions.
