Reactive Scattering of Sr with ICl — •Axel Woelke and Hansjürgen Loesch — Universität Bielefeld, Universitätsstrasse 25, D-33615 Bielefeld, Germany
Using a molecular-beam-apparatus we scattered a Strontium beam with a Iodine chloride (ICL) beam so as to observe the chemiluminescence signal with a photomultiplier. By seeded-beam-technique the collision energy was varied over a wide range. By resolving the chemiluminescence signal in a spectrometer we identified the processes as:
Sr + ICl —→ SrCl A2Π + I ⇒ SrCl A2Π —→ SrCl X2Σ+
Sr + ICl —→ SrCl B2Σ + I ⇒ SrCl B2Σ —→ SrCl X2Σ+
Other energetically allowed processes could not be detected. The simulation of the spectra may give valuable information about the reactive processes.
