The quasiclassical kinetics of atoms in a laser field of the most general 1D configuration is considered. For the optical transition jg=1/2 → je=1/2 (jg, je are the total angular momenta of the ground (g) and excited (e) states) we obtain analytical expressions for the potential force, friction and diffusion coefficients in a field with arbitrary detuning and intensity. For the optical transition jg=1 → je=2 kinetic coefficients are found in the low saturation limit. It is shown that the kinetic coefficients contain terms with an unusual dependence on the detuning. Namely, friction (diffusion) coefficient contains terms even (odd) in the detuning. These anomalous terms do not vanish under averaging over the spatial period only for fields, formed by elliptically polarized waves. Thus, new kinetic effects, such as laser cooling and trapping in the case of exact resonance, can appear in these field configurations.
