EXPERIMENTAL STUDIES OF PERTURBATIONS IN RELATIVE TRANSITION PROBABILITIES OF D1Π u+ −⟩ E1Σ g+ BANDS OF H2 — •Olga Krylova1, Sergey Astashkevich1, Boris Lavrov1, and J Roepcke2 — 1Institute of Physics, St.-Petersburg State University, 198904, Russia — 2INP-Greifswald, D-17489, Germany
For the first time the ratios of the spontaneous emission probabilities (rotational branching ratios) have been measured for pairs of spectral lines having a common upper rovibronic level but belonging to different R and P branches of D1Π u+,v′−⟩ E1Σ g+,v″ bands (v’,v”=0-2) of H2. The experimental wavelengths (G.H.Dieke, 1972) have been used. Significant discrepancy (up to 2 times) was observed between the experimental branching ratios and the values predicted by the adiabatic theory (Hoenl-London factors). The comparison of the data for transitions from singlet (present work) and triplet(B.P.Lavrov, M.V.Tuytchev, V.I.Ustimov, 1988) 3p-term complex of H2 have shown the qualitative agreement of J’-dependencies of rotational branching ratios for the same bands. The experimental data thus obtained could be used for the semiempiric determination of dipole moments of electronic transitions from the electronic states of singlet 3p-complex term of hydrogen molecule.
