Ionisation of helium in relativistisc heavy-ion collisions — •Imre F. Barna, Werner Scheid und Norbert Grün — Institut für Theoretische Physik, Justus-Liebig-Universität Gießen
Coupled channel calculations are presented for the scattering of heavy ions on helium atoms. First the eigenvalue problem of helium is solved in a Slater-type and Coulomb wave packet basis of s, p and d functions. The Coulomb wave packets are important for a better description of the continuum states, especially of those that describe double ionisation. The projectile is considered as a classical point charge that passes the target on a straight line. The ion-atom interaction arises from the time-retarded Liénard- Wiechert Coulomb potentials.
