A Collective ECC Cusp in Strong Field Heavy Ion Collisions — •Siegbert Hagmann1,2 and Imad Ali1 — 1J.R.Macdonald Lab., Dept. of Physics, Kansas State Univ. — 2GSI- Darmstadt
We have measured doubly differential cross sections for continuum electron emission induced by I(23+,26+) and F(9+) projectiles incident on Ar targets for well defined emission multiplicities. We find that the angular distribution of primordial electrons emitted for multiple target ionization exhibits a strong enhancement of emission in a narrow forward cone when compard to single target ionization; the angular width of the distribution is condensing with increasing perturbation strength and emission multiplicity inta a No-dqdropNo-dq in momentum space around the ECC Cusp. This is interpreted as evidence for a collective many-electron process in the formation of the ECC Cusp.
