In a differential scattering experiment, we study the dynamics in optical collisions:
A+X+hν → A*+X, |
where A = Na, X = N2, N2O or C2H2 and A* = Na(3P1/2,3P3/2). We measured the population ratio of the Na(3p1/2) and Na(3p3/2) fine structure levels after the collision. Thus we observe nonadiabatic transitions in the collisional complex. These experimental results will be compared with theoretical calculations. The theoretical data were generated by using potential surfaces and transition dipolar momentums from quantum chemical calculations. The dynamics of the collisions are simulated by a classical trajectory method.
