We introduce a generalization of the model of Corkum and Lewenstein [1,2]
for high harmonic generation: since the velocity of the electron is
comparable
with the velocity of light we take into account the electric dipole and
magnetic
quadrupole interaction [3].
Quantum and classical calculations are found to be in excellent agreement,
which allows
one to explain the influence of multipole effects in terms of an intuitive
picture.
We also show for which range of parameters there are deviations from the
former models.
